Is Utility Warehouse broadband a good choice?
Our overall rating: 42 out of 50
Some might be sceptical of a multiservice being able to deliver quality as well as quantity, but we have to say that there is a lot to to like about UW's broadband offerings.
For starters, it is able to provide full fibre to millions more homes than many of its major competitors – Sky, BT, EE – because, thanks to a recent partnership, it can now use two networks (CityFibre and Openreach) to deliver its broadband service.
Price-wise it's quite tricky to review because UW is a unique business model compared with other providers. To get the cheapest deal, customers need to buy multiple utilities in a grouped bundle. So, just looking at the price of broadband alone, it's pretty average. Not at the highest end, but certainly not at the lowest either.
But, it’s not as simple as saying ‘you should bundle everything together and save’. That might not necessarily be the case. Yes, you can get a 10% discount on your broadband if you take out an additional mobile contract, too, but you’ll have to do your own maths on whether the mobile contract is worth taking on instead of whatever you have right now.
One thing that is clear though is that its customer service gets an excellent response across the board, which isn’t an easy feat for any company, especially one that offers so many different products.
The positives
- Convenient bundle options
- No mid-contract price rises
- Excellent customer service reviews
The negatives
- More expensive than some others (if not bundling)
In our full review we take a look at the pros and cons of each area in more detail: speed, full fibre review, cost, setup and customer service.
How fast is Utility Warehouse broadband?
It still all depends on where you live.
UW's speeds start with partial-fibre broadband of 38Mbps or 67Mbps which is pretty slow these days.
But customers in locations with access to full fibre can enjoy speeds of up to 944Mbps. There currently isn’t an option to get any faster than this.
We’ll list everything below, but you’ll also need to check your postcode to see what is currently available.

Speed is often the biggest consideration when choosing a broadband package. If you have multiple people using the internet at one time, then a higher speed and bandwidth will be essential. Equally, if it’s a small household using the internet for everyday usage, paying for business-grade bandwidth will probably end up being a waste.
You should decide what speed is right for you, based on your broadband habits at home. Here’s a handy guide to help show what bandwidth usage your different applications need.

Utility Warehouse speeds in slow to fast order
Again, it depends where you live to what speeds you’ll have a choice of. The first two are partial fibre connections and should only be an option if full fibre isn’t yet available.
Ultra
This entry-level package has average download speeds of 38Mbps. An offering that should be okay for browsing and streaming in small households with 3-5 devices, although we’d definitely recommend spending a couple more quid and going for the next package up (67Mbps) if you can.
Ultra +
This deal has an average download speed of 67Mbps at peak times. Good for 5-10 devices in a family home. It’s the best option for those who can’t yet access full fibre.
Full Fibre 100
This 100Mbps connection is well-suited for households needing reliable internet for various tasks, including streaming, gaming, and work-from-home activities. It can comfortably handle multiple users and devices.
Full Fibre 500
Incredibly fast connection, these speeds of around 500Mbps are great for large households, multiple devices and downloading and streaming movies and videogames in UHD (ultra high definition).
Full Fibre 900
UW’s fastest broadband service with an average 944Mbps download speed. This full fibre package offers users an impressive average download speed of 900Mbps which will easily cover all high-use working and gaming internet usage in large, busy households.
Utility Warehouse full fibre review
What exactly is full fibre?
Full fibre is the fastest available internet in the UK.
Around two-thirds of homes in the UK can now access ultrafast broadband via fibre-optic technology called ‘G.fast’ or ‘Fibre To The Premises’ (FTTP).
Full fibre is the next generation of broadband. It removes the need to rely on copper phone lines and instead connects fibre cables straight to your home. This means there’s no slowdown on the data between the street cabinet and your property and the speed and strength are much more powerful than any previous fibre broadband technology as a result. Common internet issues like buffering and outages become almost non existent.
This technology will future-proof homes and businesses across the UK because, once it’s installed, properties won’t need to install new cables for their broadband for decades.
Utility Warehouse offers two packages that are partial fibre (slower connections that still need a copper phone line) and three that are full fibre.

Does Utility Warehouse broadband have reliable connection?
Utility Warehouse (UW) broadband seems to be pretty reliable, with many customers reporting positive experiences. Which? has rated UW as a Recommended Provider for Broadband, praising its connection reliability and ease of customer service. While some customers have mentioned occasional speed dips or dropouts, the overall feedback points towards a strong and dependable broadband service.
It’s also worth noting that Utility Warehouse has signed up to the Ofcom Code of Practice on Fixed Broadband Speeds, meaning customers can exit their contract without penalty if their speeds fall below a minimum guaranteed level.
Our Utility Warehouse broadband rating for connectivity: 9
How much does Utility Warehouse broadband cost?
UW has deals at different speeds. Starting from £28, its full-fibre packages are a bit pricier than some of its competitors', but these prices remain the same for the full length of the contract, whereas others - such as BT and Virgin Media - will put up the cost of your deal every year.
UW also offers energy, mobile, home insurance and boiler cover deals. Discounts are available if you take out more than one service, and then there can be further savings if you use its cashback card. Your broadband service will be 10% cheaper if you take out a mobile deal, too.
Average price guide

How long are Utility Warehouse’s contracts?
UW’s contracts are all 18 months. After this period ends you’ll be on a rolling contract at a higher price.
Does Utility Warehouse have any bundle options?
Yes! Utility Warehouse is all about bundling. There are loads of different options to combe energy, broadband, mobile and insurance services. These then provide potential discounts and other benefits, including cashback. The more you bundle, the more you save. And you then also have the advantage of only having one bill and one name to deal with for all your utilities.
Does Utility Warehouse put up its broadband prices every year?
No, it doesn’t. It stands against the practice of mid-price hikes and its homepage clearly states ‘The best broadband deals without price rises’.
Our Utility Warehouse broadband rating for cost: 8
How easy is it to get Utility Warehouse set up?
Once your order is placed, Utility Warehouse aims to connect your broadband service within two weeks. Depending on the package you are choosing and where you live, you might well need an engineer visit.
Utility Warehouse Wi-Fi routers
All of UW's broadband plans come with the UW Wi-Fi Hub. This is free of charge, although there is a £5.99 charge for postage & packaging. It's a decent enough router, but it isn't Wi-Fi 6 compatible.
If you have a larger home or would like the best possible coverage, we'd recommend getting their Whole Home Wi-Fi system (£5 a month add on) which includes two Amazon eero devices that work together to give your entire home faster more reliable Wi-Fi.
Our Utility Warehouse broadband rating for setup, installation & equipment: 8
Does Utility Warehouse broadband have good customer service?
Utility Warehouse has been clearing up with its customer services awards. Last year it came first in Uswitch's Best Customer Serviceaward. And Which? has given it the honour (it picks three companies every year) of being its Which? Recommended Provider of 2025.
It does well on Trustpilot, too. Scoring 4.3 from 62,301 reviews. Have a look at the latest reviews here.
