The UK’s 17 largest full fibre broadband networks – Autumn 2025

Independent analysis from ThinkBroadband (TBB) has just been released, giving an up-to-date look at the country’s biggest Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) networks. The data shows how many homes and businesses are genuinely “Ready for Service” (RFS) – meaning customers can actually order broadband – compared with the official claims made by providers.

As of September 2025, around 80% of UK premises can now access full fibre, rising to almost 89% for gigabit-capable broadband (a mix of FTTP and Virgin Media’s cable network).

Why this matters

Broadband providers often make bold announcements about their rollout progress, but not every “premises passed” claim means customers can place an order straight away. Sometimes a network is technically built but not yet live, or there may be errors in reporting. That’s why independent checks like TBB’s are so useful for getting a real-world picture.

What stands out?

  • Openreach remains the UK’s largest fibre builder, nearing 20 million homes.
  • CityFibre has cemented its position as the UK’s second biggest full fibre network.
  • nexfibre, the new Virgin Media-backed network, is growing quickly.
  • Hyperoptic, G.Network and F&W Networks show the biggest gaps between official claims and independently verified coverage.
  • Toob has grown significantly since its last official update.

The bottom line for customers

UK full fibre coverage has never been higher, but the figures can be confusing. Just because a provider says your home is covered doesn’t always mean you can place an order right away.
