Is Community Fibre broadband a good choice?
Our overall rating: 9 out of 10
Community Fibre Broadband is a London-based broadband provider that offers high-speed full fibre connections of up to 5Gbps. It uses its own fibre network, so does not run on the Openreach network used by the majority of UK providers, meaning it has more control over service and speed. FTTP (full fibre to the premises), also known as full fibre, removes the need to rely on copper phone lines and instead connects fibre cables straight to your home.

How fast is Community Fibre broadband?
Very fast! That’s the short answer. While it was once the outright fastest, rivals using CityFibre-backed networks have finally caught up. As a full fibre-only provider, Community Fibre still outpaces many nationwide Openreach-based services, avoiding the slowdown caused by copper cabling and delivering those sought-after symmetrical speeds – where your upload matches your download.
Community Fibre is only available in parts of London and a handful of small towns in the south east. So before you get too excited, check what is available to you with our postcode checker.
What speed is right for you?
Speed is often the biggest consideration when choosing a broadband package. If you have multiple people using the internet at one time, then a higher speed and bandwidth will be essential. Equally, if it’s a small household using the internet for everyday usage, paying for business-grade bandwidth will be a waste.
You should decide what speed is right for you, based on your broadband habits at home. Here’s a handy guide to help show what bandwidth usage your different applications need.

Community Fibre broadband packages
Community Fibre offers six full fibre packages, all with symmetrical speeds.
100Mbps
This superfast package can easily handle 5-7 devices all requiring an internet connection at the same time. Gamers will be kept happy with its equal-to-download 150Mbps upload speed.
300Mbps
An impressive plan that powers an average download speed of 300Mbps. This choice manages the demands of heavy data users, whether you’re streaming constantly or running a business from home. It can manage 9-12 devices and download an HD movie in 1 minute 8 seconds.
500Mbps
This powerful plan has an average download speed of 500Mbps. These serious speeds make it possible to download an HD movie in 23 seconds and can easily handle 9-12 devices simultaneously.
1Gbps
This full fibre package offers users an impressive average download and upload speed of 900Mbps which will easily support 12+ devices for the ultimate experience in large, busy households.
2.5Gbps
There's fast and then there's this. Will you ever need an average download – and upload – speed of 2530Mbps? Probably not. But it will cover all your needs seamlessly and it comes with the most advanced router on the market which is WiFi 6 ready. Plus, a guarantee of whole home coverage comes in the price of the package.
5Gbps
The absolute ultimate in speed. Under no circumstance will you ever need this much bandwidth at home, but if you really want the biggest and the best you'll be able to: stream 100+ 4K movies at once, download Call of Duty in about 3 minutes (this would take you 3 hours 25 minutes on a normal 100Mbps package) and upload as many game streams to Twitch as you fancy without a single jitter. This also comes with a guarantee of whole home coverage.
Community Fibre full fibre review
What exactly is full fibre?
Around 85% of UK homes can now access this ultrafast service, known as ‘Fibre to the Premises’ (FTTP), via a range of networks – including Community Fibre. Unlike older connections that rely on copper phone lines, full fibre uses fibre-optic cables running directly to your home. This eliminates slowdowns between the street cabinet and your property, delivering faster, more reliable speeds than any previous broadband technology.
Once installed, full fibre is designed to future-proof homes and businesses for decades, with no need for new cabling to support faster services in the future.
If you can’t get full fibre yet, it may not be long before you can. The UK government’s goal is for 99% of the country to have access to gigabit-capable broadband by 2030.

Does Community Fibre broadband have a reliable connection?
Because Community Fibre runs on its own full fibre network, it controls every aspect of delivering your internet service – unlike many providers that rely on the Openreach network. This seems to have clear benefits. On Trustpilot, customers frequently praise Community Fibre’s reliable connections, and the latest Which? customer survey awarded the provider four out of five stars for reliability.
Community Fibre Premium Wi-Fi
Premium WiFi is available with Community Fibre 1Gbps, 3Gbps and 5Gbps packages, costing just £2–£6 more than its standard broadband plans.
Community Fibre’s Premium WiFi packages guarantee strong whole-home coverage, with minimum speeds of 35Mbps in up to 12 rooms (including five bedrooms) spread across three floors. To achieve this, engineers install additional Mesh WiFi 6 routers to ensure every corner of your home is covered.
If Community Fibre fails to deliver the guaranteed minimum speed, customers receive three months of free broadband as compensation. Like most providers, the guarantee doesn’t extend to outbuildings such as garages or garden rooms.
Our overall Community Fibre broadband rating for connectivity: 9
How much does Community Fibre broadband cost?
It may offer some of the highest speeds, but it also offers some of the lowest prices. Its 100Mbps Superfast plan is especially brilliant value at £19. Community Fibre often adds even further appeal by offering flash deals where new customers pay nothing for the first six months.
It really is good value and was voted Which? Greatest Value Broadband in March 2025 where it was top rated for value for money, connection reliability and connection speed.

How long are Community Fibre contracts?
Community Fibre offers 12 or 24 month contract lengths (12-month only on 100Mbps and 300Mbps). It used to offer a rolling monthly contract but we can no longer see these advertised.
Does Community Fibre have TV or phone add ons?
Community Fibre’s Full Fibre packages are broadband-only by default – no traditional landline is required. If you want a home phone, you can add one via a digital (VoIP) service using a small adapter that plugs into your router. You can keep your existing handset and phone number.
Calls are carried over your internet connection, with a simple monthly fee rather than per-minute charges or call caps. The phone adapter is included to enable the service.
If you’d like TV as well, Community Fibre partners with Netgem to offer a feature-rich service with 230+ live channels and 40+ apps, including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, UKTV Play, YouTube and TikTok.
You can also add premium services (which you’ll have to subscribe to, separately) such as Netflix, Prime Video, BritBox, Hayu, NOW, Discovery+ Premium and TNT Sports.
Community Fibre rewards
There are various extra incentives offered by Community Fibre, including a Refer-a-Friend programme for £50 gift cards and a free 2-year Wellness Rewards membership, with perks like GP access and gym discounts. There are also regular flash sales where new customers can get a discount or even pay nothing on their first six months.
Does Community Fibre put up its broadband prices every year?
Yes – although it didn’t used to, Community Fibre has announced annual price rises for customers signing up from 3 June 2025 onwards. These will take place on 1 April each year, even if you’re mid-contract. In 2026, prices are set to increase by £2 per month.

How easy is it to get Community Fibre set up?
If you’re a new customer, Community Fibre aim to get you up and running within two weeks.
They will handle the whole switching process, so you won’t even have to contact your current broadband provider to tell them you’re leaving. Community Fibre will handle the whole transfer for you.
All of the Community Fibre packages are FTTP (Fibre to premises) so will need an engineer to come and set it up for you. The engineer will advise you on the best route for internal cabling and best position for your mesh WiFi router before drilling a 6-8mm hole in your wall to bring the fibre optic cable into your home. This will usually be located close to a door, balcony or window. Once they’ve mounted the fibre socket, modem and mesh WiFi router, they will also position any additional routers you’ve ordered to maximise coverage.
Before they leave, the engineer will test your speeds through a fixed connection and through WiFi and will connect up to two of your devices. The whole process should take around two hours.
What router do you get with Community Fibre broadband?
Community Fibre supplies fast, reliable Wi-Fi 6 routers tailored to your package, so you get strong coverage and consistent performance throughout your home.
Linksys Velop Wi-Fi 6 (up to 1Gbps)
Plans up to 1Gbps include the Linksys Velop Wi-Fi 6 router. It’s a tri-band, mesh-ready system designed to keep speeds stable across multiple rooms and devices.
Technicolor FGA5330 (2.5Gbps & 5Gbps)
On the 2.5Gbps or 5Gbps packages, you’ll receive the Technicolor FGA5330. It’s built for multi-gig connections and offers more headroom than most households will ever need – useful if you want maximum future-proofing.
